Let's talk about your spine for a moment. It's an incredible structure made up of 33 interlocking vertebrae. These vertebrae form your spinal column, which is divided into four main areas: the cervical area (connecting to your skull), the thoracic and lumbar areas (the mid-section), and the sacral area (connecting to your hip bone).
In between each of these vertebrae, there are small, tough discs called spinal discs. These discs have a jelly-like fluid core and they play a crucial role in your spine's health. They absorb shock, keep your vertebrae aligned, and allow your spine to move flexibly. In other words, they enable you to freely move your back and protect your spinal cord from harm.
