loose or broken spacer

if your spacer appliance is loose or breaks, call the clinic immediately to make sure your issue gets solved correctly.

loose bonded retainer

bonded (a.k.a. permanent) retainers may come loose or break over time. even if your treatment ended several years ago, it is important to get this fixed.
1.    loose bonded retainers can be kept in place with orthodontic wax.
2.    if a wire is bent out of shape, you can use the eraser end of a pencil to push it back in.
3.    if the whole appliance is very loose and feels easily removable, use clean tweezers to pull it off the teeth.
4.    keep the appliance until your appointment with an orthodontist.

broken bonded retainer

bonded (a.k.a. permanent) retainers may come loose or break over time. even if your treatment ended several years ago, it is important to get this fixed.
1.    if a wire from your bonded retainer broke, use clean nail clippers to cut the wire close to the tooth.
2.    place wax over top to make sure the cut wire does not irritate your mouth.
3.    book an appointment with any orthodontist to get your bonded retainer fixed as soon as possible. it’s important to get this resolved fast so your teeth don’t shift.
