Bill served as Associate Vice President of renowned international firms ARCADIS and Atkins where he spearheaded $1 million to $11 billion projects. With extensive project management experience in the planning, engineering, procurement, and management of large civil works projects, Bill has served as Senior Project Manager, Principal PM, and Principal-in-Charge.
He has had success in many different areas including business development, leadership training, branch office optimization, and strategic planning and growth. He is experienced in the coordination and direct opening of multiple regional offices, the M&A of branch offices, and decision-making in determining the future success of a branch office. Bill had the unique experience of opening a branch office on his own at just 29 years old where he attracted more than $200 million of work. He led marketing success through a decentralized “inform and empowerment” model, instructed hundreds of practitioners on how to leverage others’ overall marketing philosophy to succeed in the competitive A/E/C marketplace, and he used innovative business development strategies as an instrument to break into new services and attract new clients.
He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies.
Elise Kirchhofer shares experiences from her diverse background as she leads the project management and other training programs. Elise has the unique experience of having served on the design, construction and Owner’s side of a project. With over 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industry, this background allows her to understand the project and processes from all sides of the table.
Elise is a professional engineer who spent 15 years practicing at a national MEP firm, Henderson Engineers. As Vice President at Henderson, Elise led a team of engineers responsible for managing a wide range of projects, from small national accounts to large complex healthcare and commercial projects exceeding $100 million.
Elise then led up Project Management for CBRE in the Kansas City area. This role, often called Owner’s Representative, oversees and manages the design and construction of projects for Owners who don’t have the expertise or staff to do so themselves. This work allowed Elise to see the full range of the project from concept thru completion, from landlord negotiations and bringing on the design team to furniture and move management.
From here Elise spent time at McCownGordon Construction where she first led up the company’s support services, such as engineering, virtual design and construction and quality control. She then took over as their higher education practice lead.
When she isn’t delivering PSMJ programs, Elise is now Principal at Hoefer Wysocki Architects where she leads up Operations. Elise has a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering from University of Wyoming. She is a registered professional engineer with LEED and ASHRAE Healthcare Design Professional accreditations. She is a past board member of USGBC Kansas City and AIA Kansas City.
In more than 15 years with PSMJ, Michael D’Alessandro has trained thousands of A/E/C professionals on the principles of successful project delivery. His areas of particular expertise include present-worth cost estimating, negotiating capital financing, code investigations, multidisciplinary engineering coordination, equipment and subcontractor procurement, construction management, and facility commissioning.
Michael is a Senior Principal Environmental and Civil Engineer with Geosyntec and has more than 25 years of experience focused on the development of environmental and infrastructure projects using design and build and performance-based implementation strategies. He has special expertise as a construction engineering consultant, engineering practitioner, and project and program management specialist.
Michael received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Merrimack College, his master’s degree in environmental engineering from Clemson University, and an Executive Certificate in Finance and Accounting from the Dupree School of Management at Georgia Tech.
Chris leads A/E/C bootcamps and seminars, and lectures internationally on topics such as project management and integrated project delivery. Chris, who has led highly-collaborative project teams, also develops seminars, articles, presentations, and manuals with customized tools for project management and integrated project delivery for the complete A/E/C process. Chris’s A/E/C experience includes leading fully-integrated teams and providing project management training and process and tool development as Director of Integrated Services and Project Management for a number of top international A/E/C firms. His extensive experience as an A/E/C project and program manager and as an owner’s representative and seminar leader informs his knowledge and abilities to serve the needs of all the project participants to better connect to the goals of clients – and all team members – and maximize success for all.
Chris has successfully managed technically complex and highly accelerated design-build/IPD projects as well as conventional A/E projects, ranging from smaller ongoing multi-project efforts to ones exceeding $125 million. During his 15 years with national multidisciplinary A/E/C and design-build firm McClier (an AECOM company), Chris was Senior Vice President managing larger projects, as well as responsible for the mentoring and training of project management staff and developing and refining the firm’s fully integrated project delivery processes. He served as the firm’s Quality & Risk Management Officer and led peer reviews of sister AECOM companies as a member of the AECOM Performance Excellence Council. As Vice President and Director of Project Management for Cannon Design, Chris led and trained A/E/C staff and teams in project, program and construction management as well as IPD/design-build engagements for this 750-person international award-winning architecture, engineering and construction management firm. His responsibilities included development of project management delivery systems and specialized website tools for integrated design-led design-build teams as well as unbundled A/E/C services across the firm’s commercial, corporate, healthcare and educational business sectors. Chris founded Perkins+Will Integrated Services for integrated design-build and program management services at this 1,000-person award-winning firm. He has also managed the Chicago A/E/C office of an ENR 200 firm, and headed facility planning efforts for a Fortune 50 corporation and a national interior design firm.
Jared is an accomplished engineering executive with extensive experience in engineering management, operations, financial management and business strategy.
Jared spent most of his career at Hankins and Anderson, a full-service A/E firm of approximately 200 people that specialized in federal building design. Jared served as a Senior Vice President and Director of Operations where he was responsible overseeing and directing the operations of the firm. He was heavily involved with strategy, management, and finance and was also responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s strategic management system and improving its quality management system.
After Hankins and Anderson was acquired by Mason & Hanger, Jared was responsible for leading the integration of the two firms’ operations and was responsible for developing and monitoring Mason & Hanger’s strategic plan. He also served as Mason & Hanger’s Vice President of Operations. Jared also served as a Department Head, Chief Structural Engineer, and Senior Structural Engineer at Hankins and Anderson.
Jared began his career as a structural engineer at Stanley D. Lindsey and Associates where he designed low and high-rise buildings and specialty structures. He also worked at URS Corporation designing bridges, including the first extradosed cable-stay bridge in the world. Working for several different types of firms, both small and large, has allowed him to be exposed to many different facets of the A/E industry.
Jared has served on several boards of directors and served as treasurer for several organizations. He was also heavily involved with the American Council of Engineering Companies of Virginia. He is a speaker, writer, and adviser on topics of business management and strategy with an emphasis on the A/E/C industry. He has worked as adjunct faculty for the Virginia Commonwealth University Executive MBA program, teaching business planning, and has been a guest lecturer for professional service MBA classes at the University of Richmond.
Jared is a registered professional engineer. He has BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering, with a structural emphasis, from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
With a 35-year career in the engineering and construction industry, Jay McRae has extensive experience in business development, operations, program and project management—teaching, facilitating, and inspiring staff in the public and private sectors.
Jay has personally trained hundreds of project managers and principals-in-charge on the principles of successful project delivery and financial management. He is a highly experienced project manager, who was responsible throughout his career for project identification, scope and fee development, project team selection, and leading the execution of agreed-upon work.
In addition to his work with PSMJ, Jay has held several positions as Vice President for CH2M, Director of North America Transit, and Rail Director at CH2M, as well as the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Region 2 Project Delivery Manager, where he was well-known for his coaching and mentoring prowess. With this passion for developing leaders, Jay speaks regularly across North America about elevating leadership in the A/E/C industry.
As the North America Transit and Rail Director for CH2M, Jay brought the organization from ENR #14 to ENR #5 ranking in gross revenue in the US. Additionally, Jay led his team to 20% growth rates for four consecutive years while he was the Northwest Transportation Region Business Group Manager.
While serving ODOT’s Region 2, he improved project on-time delivery from 40% to 100% and lowered delivery costs by 25%. Based on this performance, Jay was asked to redesign all of ODOT’s Project Selection and Development processes.
Jay has served as a Program Manager, Principal-in-Charge, and Senior Advisor for projects with Sound Transit, Honolulu Area Rapid Transportation, and Los Angeles Metro. He had direct involvement in over 3,000 projects in transportation and water markets with many other clients and jurisdictions.
Jay attended Oregon State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and serves on their Industry Advisory Board. Jay also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Portland State University.
Duane Lindner, P.Eng., ENV SP has been actively engaged in the consulting engineering industry for over 25 years, having worked for several firms of varying sizes and disciplines. He is a senior Project Manager for Associated Engineering in Ontario, Canada, where he built a successful branch office in new geographic territory from the ground up. More recently, he has handed off his management roles to focus purely on his passion: project delivery.
Duane has served as Project Manager and Lead Engineer for many civil engineering projects relating to public infrastructure as well as both commercial and residential developments. He is a two-time recipient of the Consulting Engineers of Ontario “Award of Excellence” for Project Management on complex projects. He is a steward of environmental protection; actively promoting sustainable design to address the need for climate change adaptation and building resiliency through his role in delivering public infrastructure projects.
Business development and leadership have been core features of Duane’s career, and while he has always been actively engaged in managing projects he has also fulfilled many corporate leadership roles. As an executive Vice President, he was instrumental in helping a small civil engineering firm grow from 40 people to a multi-discipline firm of over 200 staff that ultimately joined PSMJ’s Circle of Excellence. He was responsible for the implementation of corporate Project Management and Cost Accounting systems (Axium / Deltek) for multiple organizations. He has also developed and delivered in-house project management training programs and served on numerous committees focused on enhancing leadership skills and improving project delivery.
Duane has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Waterloo, and is a registered professional engineer. He is formally trained in Value Engineering and is a certified Envision Sustainability Professional. He is an accomplished speaker and facilitator, proven through numerous stakeholder workshops, design charrettes and training programs.
Emily has a passion for making complex ideas simple and easy to integrate as well as bringing efficiency into her organizations. Her experience draws from a background in engineering design leading to working in construction and commissioning - this experience has given her insight into all sides of the industry and how to approach projects holistically to create a successful product and process. With nearly 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industry, she has gained insight into how to plan projects, manage design, costs and construction, collaboratively work with all project team members and how to lead teams. This background allows her to understand projects and processes from all sides of the table.

Emily then took an opportunity to become a Principal at Lankford Fendler + Associates, another national MEP firm in Kansas City. Her role included overseeing various project types, but she took the lead on creating a formalized business development strategy and tracking system and project management training. At her time with this firm, she was responsible for landing one of the largest projects in the firms 20+ year history.
The construction industry took notice and Emily moved to McCownGordon Construction where she first helped to bolster the project development department then shifted to become Vice President of Building Performance Solutions which houses several teams: mechanical, electrical and plumbing, structural, commissioning, sustainability and virtual design and construction. She became a licensed commissioning authority and started the commissioning services department at McCownGordon which was not a service previously provided.
Emily has a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University. She is a registered professional engineer with WELL AP and Qualified Commissioning Provider accreditations. She is a past board member of Wonderscope Children's Museum and past Chair of the UMKC Civil and Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board.
Jonathan brings more than 15 years of experience managing challenging projects from both the consultant and client sides of the table. As a seasoned aviation professional, Jonathan hired and led numerous architecture, engineering, and construction management project teams to fulfill a multi-million-dollar aviation capital program. First as a client-side project manager and then as a program manager, Jonathan organized and led diverse teams of planning, civil engineering, structural engineering, MEP engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, survey, and construction management professionals on individual projects ranging from $1,000 to more than $10 million.
Jonathan founded the aviation division inside of KPG, an established 115-person Seattle-based interdisciplinary professional services firm. In that role, he and his project teams completed numerous planning, survey, civil engineering, architecture, and landscape architecture projects.
When he is not training A/E professionals, Jonathan travels the country inspiring and educating audiences on the art and science of leadership. He has been invited to speak at several venues in addition to national association events like the Airports Council International and the American Public Works Association.
Jonathan has a master’s degree in Public Administration and has been certified by the International Coach Federation as a professional coach. He resides just outside of Seattle, Washington, with his wife and two kids.
Tom is a highly experienced planning and design professional with over 25 years in the transportation, land development, and sustainability fields. He has extensive experience in business development, operations, project delivery, program management, training, leadership development and strategic planning.
Tom currently serves as California Regional Operations Manager for HW Lochner, a national consulting engineering firm. At Lochner, Tom is focused on post-merger integration of acquired firms in the Western US.
Over his career, Tom has managed projects at all scales from $10K planning studies through $100M design build programs. Many of his projects have been large scale and have focused on making positive impacts on communities and the environment through major infrastructure investments.
Tom has held various leadership roles throughout his career, including office and market leadership, executive leadership, and companywide operations, and is particularly skilled at developing business strategy, opening new markets and geographies, and implementing business processes.
Throughout his career, Tom has worked in a range of firm sizes from small founder-led startups like Sherwood Design Engineers, privately held firms like Carter & Burgess and Nelson\Nygaard (Perkins Will), and large publicly traded firms like IBI Group. He has led teams of engineers, planners, architects, and landscape architects.
He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Texas A&M University and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Utah.
