Guide for Managers

Why do companies partner with Udacity?

Our Nanodegree programs are designed to quickly and efficiently upskill your workforce with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the new digital revolution. Udacity Nanodegree programs are completely online. All content is available on-demand, so learners can work on the program any time that fits their schedule.

What is a Nanodegree program?

A Udacity Nanodegree program is a unique online educational offering designed for the modern tech workforce. Learners enroll in a specific course offering and will be prompted to view the online course, as well as complete a series of projects and support courses designed to help them develop practitioner-level skills in emerging technologies. Each Nanodegree program has a different term length ranging from 3 to 6 months, requiring 10 hours of dedicated study a week. Please visit the program overview pages to learn the durations of each program.

Which Nanodegree programs are right for my employees?

Each of our learning paths has an associated assessment so that your employees can be placed at the most appropriate starting point. The assessment tests skills in areas such as programming, calculus, probability. Assessments are not performance reviews; they should only be used to place learners in challenging (but not intimidating) Nanodegree programs to start their learning journey.

What’s in it for managers?

Nominating your direct reports to take a Nanodegree program is an opportunity to identify and close the skills gaps within your team. Nanodegree programs allow them to develop professionally and attain skills needed to take on critical projects. Most importantly, by creating a culture of learning, you’ll be able to empower them to apply their newly-acquired skills, accelerating innovation within your team and the greater organization.

What are the benefits of protected learning time?

Forward-thinking employers understand that providing their employees time to learn is an integral part of their upskilling programs. If employees feel overwhelmed by their daily workload, they will find it difficult to allocate time for learning. Ideally, learning should be a part of their everyday job. Read more.
