THE LATEST NEWS AND PROGRESS UPDATES FROM THE CONCOURS CLUB

TCC SPOTLIGHT:MEET THE CLUB'S CHIEF OF COURSE

An operation like The Concours Club would fall short without true professionals at the helm. We are proud to introduce you to the Club's Chief of Course, Chad McGunegill. An Indiana native, Chad began his career as a firefighter and paramedic. After 12 years, Chad joined the Automotive Racing Club of America (ARCA) and the American Speed Association (ASA).

Chad's expertise landed him a role with NASCAR, where he was responsible for the safety and well-being of all drivers. Seven years later, upon NASCAR's merger with IMSA, Chad was promoted as Head of Track Services & Safety, a role he fulfilled for five years. In 2019, Chad moved to Miami and  joined The Concours Club as Chief of Course and head of the circuit's Response Team.

The Concours Club's Circuit Response Team is there to respond to emergency situations including incidents, fire suppression, vehicle extrication, and medical response. In addition, the Circuit Response Team is responsible for daily operations and maintenance of the course, ensuring all driving surfaces, impact attenuation barriers and circuit equipment are pristinely maintained.

"We are incredibly fortunate to have Chad anchor our facility maintenance and response team. His emergency response and circuit operation experience, combined with his attention to detail are invaluable. Chad and his team will ensure the safety of our members and guests is always prioritized."

-President, Aaron Weiss

CIRCUIT RESPONSE TEAM

Bad days on the circuit just got better. The Circuit Response Team is here to help in the most critical of moments. Joining our Chief of Course, Chad McGunegill, is Assistant Chief of Course, Robert Simpson and course operations Associate, Trace Hance.

Robert is a 14 year veteran firefighter and advanced EMT. His experience includes vehicle extrication, trench rescue, and hazardous material response. Robert has 10 years of experience providing rescue services and logistical support during emergency situations and severe weather declarations.

Trace comes from a family of racing enthusiasts and has grown up in the paddock. His background as a driver positions him ideally for a career in Circuit Operations. Trace is our TecPro barrier specialist, an expert equipment operator, and will also be serving as a pit marshal. Trace is also an amateur race car driver and the 2020 Florida Spec Miata Champion.

The response team's custom-made vehicles were specifically-designed for use at The Concours Club. The Tundra is outfitted with both foam and dry chem extinguishing agents. The team will utilize hydraulic extrication tools manufactured by AMKUS and critical response items will be housed in a custom-designed skid unit. In addition to the fast-response Tundra, we have built an F350 repair vehicle, which is essentially a “toolbox on wheels” and is designed to facilitate rapid course repair.

CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS

Since our last newsletter, we have made incredible progress. As shown in the video above, The new Turn 1 configuration has been paved, guardrail has been installed and the high-grip run-off paint has been applied. The Paddock Lounge broke ground and the solar panels are in production. The design was enhanced to include electric car charging stations.

Asphalt has been poured in front of Concours One. The finishes inside the tuning shops are in progress and the automotive storage, detailing, and maintenance bays are virtually complete. The Members Lounge millwork is well underway and kitchen equipment is being installed. Construction of the entrance perimeter wall along Le Jeune begun and is rapidly progressing. The guardhouse is complete, the entry drive has been graded, and the security gate and bollards are underway.

DRIVEN BY DESIGN

Weaving motorsport elements into interior design is a task for the talented. Jennifer Hoey Interior Design has been involved with The Concours Club since its early inception. Jennifer Hoey-Smith and her Miami-based Senior Designer, Maria Senior, provide innovative concepts and modern style, ensuring all details of the member’s luxury experience are integrated.

Working collaboratively with our in-house team, DMAC Architecture and Brad Kilgore, the design team has crafted the ultimate Members Lounge.

Jennifer’s team has worked on multiple projects across the country, ranging from residential to commercial. Extensive research and creative processes inspired the bespoke clubhouse environment. Stripping away the starkness of modern automotive design elements, JHID infuses warmth to create the most inviting of spaces.

“The inspiration behind the design of the Member's Lounge was to create an environment for members to pursue their passion for racing in a high end luxury environment. By taking notes from sport car details and applying that to a lounge setting, we considered everything from leather quilting and stitch details, to rich wood tones paired with black and mixed metals," states Jennifer Hoey-Smith.

The Members Lounge will be available to members upon Club opening.

NEW TOYS

FLEET VEHICLES

A new and improved fleet offering is coming to the family. Meet the M2 CS Racing. Modeled using insights gained from the development of the BMW M4 GT4, the new M2 CS Racing is the perfect balance of performance and pedigree that we have come to expect from BMW. The vehicle comes equipped with an S55 twin-turbo inline six-cylinder pumping out up to 425hp, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. An adjustable rear wing, a removable BMW Motorsport specialty steering wheel, and air conditioning make this an ideal to addition to the rest of the Concours Club's fleet.

LAUNCH PAD

As many modern cars now feature launch control, we have added a space to use it. Located in line with our longest straightaway, we have added a launch pad! This pad is the ideal place to experience raw acceleration. The pad is wide enough for two cars to settle a grudge.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The Concours Club team is hard at work, ensuring all members' needs are ready for opening. Last month, Emmy award-winning, Alienworx Productions, was on site to shoot the member training modules featuring three-time Indy 500 Champion, Helio Castroneves. A stark departure from monotonous, conservative education methods, the training modules will teach members and their guests through exciting, dynamic, and animated footage.
