How to estimate monthly spending

You can text as much as you like based on your own needs and budget - but how do you know what amount of usage will fit your budget?

Here's an example and easy way to estimate your spending:

Example:

One Text Message = 153 characters per recipient

In this example, we're going to text message all parents for a school with 125 students.

Each 153-character message costs just 1.8 cents.

There are 2 parents per student so that means we'll be sending a total of 250 messages.

Example of a 153-character message:

"No school Weds. & Thur. due to weather/road closures. If weather permits, classes will resume Fri. morning, regular time. Ck your text inbox for updates."

If we text them all 6 times per month, here is what you could expect to spend in a month:

* 153 characters include spaces between words, etc. Any message longer than 153 characters counts as an additional message.

** When you set up your texting feature in MySchoolWorx, UrgentCast will charge your credit card an initial deposit of $20.

This will be applied directly to your first month's usage, and each month you will be billed only for the number of texts you used in the previous month. Your monthly credit card billing date for the previous month's usage will be the same day of the month as the day your set up.

For example, if you set up your texting service on the 15th of the month, your credit card will be charged on the 15th of each month moving forward.
