Opportunity Zones  |  Qualified Opportunity Fund

Opportunity Zones were added to the tax code as part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on December 22, 2017.  An Opportunity Zone is an economically-distressed community, identified by a census tract, where new investments, under certain conditions, may be eligible for preferential tax treatment. Qualified Opportunity Zones (QOZ) are nominated for that designation by each state government and certified by the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury via their delegation of authority to the Internal Revenue Service.
